Confident in the Face of Evil [Wise Wednesday]

Dr. Charles Young, while preaching in the chapel at CIU recently,  made this point about possible 'antichrists.'

Now... I don't think Barack Obama is the Antichrist. But there are some who do. And the some who do seem to be worried. They are worried and angry about the coming of the Antichrist.

Dr. Young's text was Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein...

He said that he's not worried about this president being the antichrist, "because I believe in the Bible. I am not disturbed by the antichrist. I'm looking for him. His arrival does not negate God's investment in this world." W

That's wisdom. Stop digging your bunker. Don't worry about the end of the world.
The earth is the Lord's. Honor the king, love your neighbor, preach the gospel.

Relax. God is in control.

Pasta Keith,

I agree with you. I recently listened to a sermon series by Frances Chan (website below if readers want to download the sermons)

http://www.cornerstonesimi.com/getasermon

It was interesting that he spoke about how Christian get all worried an bent out of shape when we talk about end times. We focus on how is it going to end, who is the anti-Christ, etc. Instead we should be excited about the fact that we will be redeemed and brought into the presence of Christ and earn our reward in heaven.

Chan mentioned that these end time passages focus on how we are supposed to live during those times and not to worry.

Be encouraged that you have been saved by grace and that your will soon be with your King!

Amen to that, fitnessman.

I am encouraged too by the reality that we are never out of the sovereign grip of God's grace. He is in control, no matter how hot the furnace is heated, no matter how peaceful the valley we are lying down in. He reigns, and we can confidently trust in Him as we wait for our redemption.

President-Elect Obama needs our prayers and the gospel, not hate and titles.

Thanks, brothers. The reassurance about those views of yours DO make me relax. Sorry about the heat in my Facebook comment earlier today, "Pasta Keith" - I've really been aggravated all day by the judgment people pass who would not want to be judged themselves by other humans.

Love from Germany
Oberon

Hey Oberon - great name, btw.

Don't worry about offending me. Not a problem.

We do have a judging problem, and we need to deal with it.

I do think some elements of the future president's plan are concerning (and wrong) but I don;t think we need to resort to name calling in the church. Let's just say we don't agree with him and move on.
